Club Water Polo (Women’s)
About Us
Georgetown Women’s Club Water Polo is a competitive and supportive team that competes in the Atlantic Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA). While we are committed to competition, we also welcome undergraduates with varying levels of experience and availability. Through practices, tournaments, travel, and social events, the team has built a tight-knit community rooted in growth, support, and a shared love for the sport.
How to Join
Georgetown Women’s Club Water Polo does not hold tryouts for membership. The only requirement to join is that members know how to swim. Interested undergraduate students are encouraged to reach out via email or on Instagram to be added to the team’s mailing list and learn more about upcoming practices, competitions, and team events.
Time Commitment
Practices are held three times per week at McCarthy Pool, typically lasting 1.25 to 2 hours depending on the semester and team schedule. During the fall semester, practices are generally held three days per week for about two hours each. In the spring, the practice schedule may vary based on the team’s invitational and tournament schedule. The team typically travels to approximately three weekend tournaments during the spring season. To be eligible to travel and compete with the team, players are expected to attend at least 60% of practices.
Dues
Dues are $30 per semester per person, which covers tournament fees, transportation, lodging, and equipment.
Awards, Recognition, and Championships
Recent team accomplishments include a 3rd place finish at the 2023 CWPA Atlantic Division Championships. In 2025, two of the team captains were named to the Atlantic Division All-Conference Second Team, in recognition of their strong performances and contributions.
