Starting a New Student Organization

Any undergraduate student can start a new student organization at Georgetown by going through the New Club Development (NCD) process. Come to an information session to find out more about the requirements and process, as well as to meet with representatives from the undergraduate advisory boards.

New organizations seeking to be fully recognized and receive ‘Access to Benefits’ status to include funding, space reservation through EMS, etc. must complete the semester-long New Club Development process, which is administered by the Council of Advisory Boards (CAB). Individuals interested in starting groups must attend a New Club Development Orientation at the beginning of the Fall semester (a campus-wide email will go out announcing the dates/locations of the sessions) and complete the requirements set forth in the attached document, as well as any additional requirements that their sponsoring Advisory Board may have.

It is MANDATORY to attend one of the three information sessions if you would like to start an undergraduate student organization this semester.  If you are unable to make any sessions you are still able and encouraged to gather interest in your organization in preparation for the next semester by tabling in public square areas on-campus (i.e. Red Square, Leavey Lobby, designated areas in the Healey Family Student Center, etc.), hold meetings in classrooms (you may reserve as an individual student through the registrar during the academic year), and advertise your organization via flyers, social media, etc., as long as you do not use the University’s name, logo and trademarks, as those are benefits reserved for groups that are recognized.
