About Us

The Georgetown Club Wrestling welcomes undergraduate students of all skill and experience levels, from those looking to train and compete seriously to those interested in learning the fundamentals of a new sport. As one of the world’s oldest and most decorated sports, wrestling offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to build skill, strength, discipline, and mental toughness.

Beyond practices and competition, Georgetown Club Wrestling emphasizes camaraderie, personal growth, and support for one another both on and off the mat. With a growing roster of dedicated members, the club provides a tight-knit and motivating environment for anyone looking to begin or continue their wrestling journey.

How to Join

Georgetown Club Wrestling welcomes any undergraduate students, from experienced high school wrestlers looking to continue competing to students who have never wrestled before and want to learn something new. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn, work hard, and be part of the team. Anyone interested in joining should stop by our table at the CAB Fair, come introduce themselves at practice, or reach out to be added to the mailing list and GroupMe.

Time Commitment

The club meets three times per week in Studio A at Yates Field House. Practices are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., and Fridays from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. Practices typically focus on skill development, technical drilling, live wrestling, conditioning, and preparation for competition. The team also participates in meets and competitions, which are usually held on Saturdays. Competition is encouraged for those interested, but participation is voluntary.

Dues

Dues are $30 per semester per person, which covers entry fees, transportation, lodging, and equipment.

Awards, Recognition, and Championships

Over the last few semesters, Georgetown Club Wrestling has continued to grow both on and off the mat. The club has hosted several dual meets and joint practices with American and George Washington, while also substantially increasing its roster of dedicated members. Looking ahead, the team hopes to expand its competitive opportunities by participating in regional and national club wrestling tournaments.
