Club Softball

About Us

Georgetown Club Softball allows undergraduate students to continue playing softball while balancing academics and campus life. As a student-run organization, we provide a supportive and inclusive environment where players of all experience levels can develop skills, learn game strategy, and enjoy the sport. Practices focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence in an encouraging and fun setting. Whether you are a former high school player, new to the game, or returning after time away, the team welcomes you. Beyond the field, members build leadership, accountability, and lasting friendships while contributing to a positive team culture.

How to Join

Students interested in joining Club Softball are encouraged to reach out to the team by email, social media, or through the campus club directory. Interested students may also attend a practice to meet the team and learn more about the club. No tryouts are required. Practices are open to players of all experience levels, including beginners, former high school athletes, and those returning to the sport. Players should wear athletic clothing and footwear suitable for softball. The team provides shared equipment such as bats, balls, and gloves, though members are welcome to bring their own gear.

Time Commitment

Club Softball typically practices 1 to 2 times per week, with practices lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Practices focus on batting, fielding, base running, game strategy, and scrimmages. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended to help members build skills, stay connected, and contribute to team development. The team competes in several game days and series throughout the year. Series usually consist of multiple back-to-back games against the same opponent and may take place at a nearby rented public field or the opponent’s home field. Game days typically require a larger time commitment, often running from the morning into the afternoon. Participation in games is optional, but strongly encouraged for members who want to compete and support the team.

Dues

Dues are $30 per semester per person, which covers field rentals, umpire fees, transportation, and team equipment.

Awards, Recognition, and Championships

Club Softball previously competed in the National Club Softball Association (NCSA), but the team now organizes its own games to allow for a more flexible schedule. While the club does not currently have awards or trophies, its focus remains on skill development, teamwork, and enjoying the game in a supportive and inclusive environment.
